Bra and Panty Thieves Strike Victoria Secret

The title alone makes you shake your head. Kind of makes you wonder if there is a black market somewhere for bras and panties that we don’t know about?

Victoria Secret has been falling victim to some bra and panty thieves who taken them for a wild ride and a significant loss in bra and panties over the past 9 months in Northeast Ohio. A number of stores were hit including three stores at the Parmatown Mall and one over the weekend at Summit Mall which resulted in 8,500 dollars in merchandise.

And these panty bandits are stealing one or two underwear here or there. The latest incident at Summit Mall was a tag team effort. The couple walked around the store and knocked over a sales rack before leaving. Employees were left stupefied as they realized 90 bras and... you won't believe this... 800 panties had been stolen from the store!

We are still confused as to how someone got away with 800 panties. The police believe the couple is reselling the merchandise online.

Visible Panty Line Used For Protest

The Green Squeeze protest group made a very visible statement to protest the building of a road that would link Stanton Ironworks site in Ilkeston to the A52.

However, the road is planned over the last piece of open land in the area and protesters built a line of boxers in order to let developers know what they thought of the idea. The leader of the Green Squeeze, Paul Harvy, reminded reporters that the land was considered a local national park and that they would continue to protest until the local authorities come to their senses.

The visible panty line shows where the road will be constructed and how the road will be affected. Definitely an amazing demonstration!

HCM City Bans Mannequins Wearing Lingerie

In Vietnam, the government of HCM City have decided that all stores displaying lingerie wearing mannequins would be banned. The ban started on June 15 and if caught, authorities would be issuing warnings and citations.

However, news of the ban seems to have traveled slowly because many stores still have the mannequins in the windows, the shop owners deny hearing the government issued demands, and the customers seem oblivious to the underwear. In it's wake, the issue has spun a heated debate that has been a major argument, not only in Vietnam, but across the world.

The question? Why is it okay to display swimsuits and scantily made outfits on mannequins and advertisined, but it isn't okay to advertise lingerie. Many retailers who make modest underwear have complained about the stipulations that magazines, websites and other venues have placed on displaying their product. Many believe they are given the short end of the stick because they can't accurately sale their product without showing the lingerie on a body.

According to a staff at Mitsuba company in HCM City: "....the ban doesn’t mention bikinis. This product is the same with underwear. Why isn’t it banned?”

Definitely a question that needs to be addressed worldwide.

Russells New Lingerie Beau and Saudi Underwear Freedom

Once Noemie Lenoir and footballer Claude Makelele split, neither of them took a long time to move one. However, the hot topic of the day is Noemie's new beau, Russell Simmons. The two have been hitting the town with plenty of PDA.

And the entertainment world as well as the lingerie world has definitely taken notice. However... the Russell is definitely not private about his feelings for Noemie, on Twitter he calls her "his baby" and to the press:

"Any how my babie (sic) says says her agencies in France and England are getting calls from media "she's dating a rapper".


Besides their 22 year age difference both of them have lots in common including young children and the fashion industry.

Meanwhile, Saudi women have moved one step closer to women's rights. Using bras donated by Victoria Secret, 26 Saudi women completed training to learn how to fit, stock and sell underwear. The women and organizers are hoping the move will help lift the ban on women selling underwear in Saudi Arabia.

The Purple Bra Thief

Okay... even some stories we find hard to believe. According to Buffalo News, a man was arrested for rummaging through a neighbors car. Seems like a petty crime, right?

Well, not only did Lisa Collins find 20 year old Jacob Andrew Fast, rummaging through her car... but he was doing it in a purple bra and boxer shorts...That's right, A PURPLE BRA!

We can't even make this stuff up; Lisa told WZZM-TV that she found Jason going through her car on last Tuesday afternoon in a purple bra and boxer shorts and she called the police. Additionally, the car keys were missing from her house which means he had to have been inside to find them... definitely creepy.

Jason was arraigned on Wednesday with some serious charges including first-degree home invasion, obstructing and resisting a police officer which caused him to be placed on a $20,000 bond. The good news is that Lisa got her keys and her car back in good shape, the only question we, Lisa the police and the community have is... whose purple bra was he wearing?

Branding Genius or a Woman's Worse Nightmare?

Eva Mendes and model Jamie Dornan are the new faces of the Fall 2009 Calvin Klein Jeans and Underwear campaign... and boy are they steamy. Shot by the amazing potographer Steven Klein, the ads will appear in Lucky, Elle, InStyle, Vanity Fair, Nylon, W, Details, Interview, billboards and just about everywhere else.

The new ads definitley remind us of last years ads featuring Eva Mendes that actually got banned. But these are a little more modest (which gives you an idea of exactly how racy last years were).

So whose the male model? Well, you know how on Sex and The city Samantha's boyfriend Smith got that great underwear campaign and it catapulted his career? We have no idea who Jamie Dornan is, but we are pretty sure this is just the beginning for him.

Lingerie Home Party Success

Carrie Charlick and Marcia Negro started Essential Bodywear LLC following a similar structure of Avon and Tupperwear in order encourage women to take the time to be properly fitted.
Now Essential Bodywear has 400 independent sales representatives in 38 different states who conduct parties in homes where they fit women with properly fitting bras. They go to homes, measure them in their clothes, and carry all sizes of bras that you usually can't find in department stores.

Representatives for Essential Bodywear go through a complete training program and conduct over 100 fittings before they are certified bra fitters.

Saudi Princess Sued over $98,000 Lingerie Bill

We couldn't make this stuff up if we tried. A Saudi Princess, Maha al-Sudairi (wife of Saudi Interior Minister Prince Nayef bin Abdul Aziz) is being sued by Key Largo, a Paris boutique for owing them over $98,000 in unpaid lingerie.

Key Largo has begun civil proceedings in Paris which will include a seizing of assets. Here's where the story gets interesting. According to sources, al-Sudairi is most likely going to claim diplomatic immunity because of her husband’s ministerial status.... even though she's based in the luxurious George V Hotel in Paris and not Saudi Arabi. By the way, the George V Hotel is owned by her nephew, Prince Alwaleed bin Talal.

Unfortunately, it looks as if Key Largo isn't the only store following suit. A Paris jeweler and a number of other boutiques that say al-Sudairi has not paid them. We know money isn't an option... so what's the deal with the unpaid bills?

Is Lingerie Booming or Failing In This Recession?

Two stories broke last night that contradict each other. The first was the news of Harwayes, the lingerie company, which will be closing its doors after 50 years of trading. The lingerie chain is inevitably the latest victim of the recession.

The group will be closing all 23 of its stores after the rent was increased and sales went down. The combination of the two caused the company to make a decision to close down. Unfortunately, Harwayes had 120 employees across the country, many who have been there for years.

The second story that broke last night was of Lingerie sales booming despite the recession. According to industry reports, sexy underwear and lingerie are defying the recession and growing by leaps and bounds. The catch? These sales are mostly going to basically unknown or small online retailers or established and popular brand names… not brick and mortar small businesses.

One museum is taking advantage of the lingerie boom, London's Fashion and Textile Museum, has a new exhibit entitled Under-cover which will portray how lingerie uniquely has shaped and controlled women's bodies for years.

Natalie Suliman Bring Online Gold to M&S Lingerie

The new face of the Mark & Spencer lingerie billboard campaign is 23 year old Natalie Suliman.

The 5 foot 8 goddess has turned Marks & Spencer online lingerie store into online gold. The campaign advertised by her has increased 163 percent despite the global economic shutdown.

The most interesting part of this story comes from Suliman, who has an interesting story of her first time seeing the billboards. The beauty told the Sun:

“I nearly crashed my car when I saw the advert for the first time. I was happily driving to a shopping mall with my music blasting when I suddenly saw a 20-ft picture of my chest on the horizon. "It was shocking to see my boobs looking so huge, but I guess that’s not something I can complain about! I’m just happy the advert has been such a success."

According to the M&S marketing Chief Steve Sharp:

"The ad has caused quite a stir. Not only have we seen a real uplift in our bra sales, but we have also received hundreds of calls asking who the model is. In the near future Suliman has her sights on becoming a Victoria's Secret lingerie stunner.

Suliman confirmed the statement by saying, "I’m hoping to go to America and model for the Victoria’s Secrets catalogue."

The North Pole Embraces Lingerie

This is one story we guarantee you won't forget. The Catlin Artic Survey is a group that heads out to areas, in this case the North Pole, to measure shrinking icecaps.

One thing about these trips is that sometimes their compasses stop working. When you get so close to the poles, the magnetic pulls cause equipment that use magnets to stop working. Also, its too cold for the teams GPS equipment.

So, when technology fails you can find your direction by a reliable source, the sun and the stars! But what happens when its cloudy outside and you can't see the sun or the stars?

The Catlin Artic Survey team came up with an unusual idea. They actually attach lingerie to the end of a ski pole and measure the direction of the wind!

According to Pen Hadow, an arctic explorer and the first person to make a solo trip to the North Pole:

“It is an entirely genuine situation. If you can get gossamer thin material and attach it to your ski pole, it is particularly useful for this project because we cannot use the compass as we are so close to magnetic north and it is too cold to use GPS…The knickers have taken up a whole new value operationally”

The funny part? Well, the panties were donated by a supporter of the expedition... so none of the female explorers had to give theirs up!

Humor and Bras Celebrate Breast Cancer Survivors

Sometimes a little humor goes a long way. A traveling exhibit called Artfull Bras has taken the hard facts of breast cancer and added a litle humour.

Created by the members of Quilters of South Carolina, a number of bras in the exhibit are covered by just about everything except what a bra should be made out of. The bras feature camouflage, feathers, leaves, Halloween themes and much more. Cute tag lines can be found to give any woman a great laugh including:
