Jockey Finds That Giving Underwear Is No Longer Taboo
It appears that Americans' unmentionables have become just that. According to a previous Jockey survey, more than a quarter of Americans own underwear five or more years old, and 79 percent have underwear that is tattered, discolored or stained.* Part of the problem seems to be consumers' reluctance to part with their intimates. Thirty-two percent of Americans refuse to throw away their old, tattered underwear until they receive new, replacement pairs. So stuff those stockings with some new skivvies!

Megan Fox Replaces Posh in Armani Ads
With Victoria Beckham saying no more to Armani, Megan Fox will be taking her place a as the latest face of Armani lingerie. The Jennifer's Body and Transformers star will be shown in the lingerie ads around January, as well as Armani's luxury jean ads.
With Posh gone, her husband David Beckham will be replaced as well by 24-year old Real Madrid soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo. Unlike Victoria and David, Megan and Cristiano will not be in the ads together.
Victoria is still very happy about her decision, she felt her stomach was not right for the constant skin exposure and that it showed the fact that she had 3 kids. A source was quoted saying that Victoria is thankful that the Armani team did some great touch ups and reworking lighting to make her stomach look better.

Glow In The Dark Undies....
Can you imagine being in the bedroom with the lights off with your significant other and all of a sudden her underwear starts to glow?

Help Cumberland Make A Bust
Cumberland County detectives found a trailer full of stolen women's lingerie Thursday and connected it to a 2005 theft.
A shipping trailer filled with 287 cartons of Maidenform brassieres was stolen from the company's Fayetteville plant four years ago. The merchandise was valued at about $400,000, authorities said.
Maidenform officials recently notified Cumberland County authorities that someone was trying to sell the stolen undergarments on the Craigslist Web site.
"Maidenform normally sells cartons to the retail stores, so when you have a private citizen that's selling cartons of the bras, that's going to send a red flag," said Detective Bobby Jeffers of the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office.
Investigators were able to track the merchandise to a trailer – not the Maidenform shipping trailer – parked along Mabe Road, an undeveloped area near Parkton. They recovered 176 cartons of bras, Jeffers said.
Authorities are still trying to determine who is responsible for the theft and the subsequent attempt at selling the merchandise online.
Jeffers said authorities don't plan to prosecute anyone who bought one of the bras.
"When you buy things, even though they're stolen, (if you're) purchasing them in good faith, we're not going to hold people accountable," he said.
Anyone with information about the theft or online posting is asked to call the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office at 910-323-1500 or call in an anonymous tip to 910-484-8477.

Big Boob City Named
Okay..the title sounds a little demeaning, but it's an actual study of which city has the largest bra sizes, and the information can help retailers understand sizing and where to market their product effectively.
And the winner is....
Liverpudlian. Their woman have the biggest breast in the country with an average breast size of 34E. On the reverse, Birmingham has an average size of 34A.
Retailer Debenhams took a look at bra sales between April and October to discover the average bust sizes for towns in Europe, and is likely to cause other retailers to look closer as well.
According to Annette Warburton, Debenhams' Head of Lingerie Buying, "The most common size in Liverpool stands at a plentiful 34E, reflected in local busty celebrities, Abby Clancy and Coleen Rooney....In London, the average falls to a still impressive 34D. On the small but perfectly formed side of the map is Southampton with an average size of 34B and Birmingham coming in 34A....We currently bra fit over 250,000 women each year. With the increasing awareness, we believe that we'll see even more dramatic variations in bust size over the coming years....The majority of British women still believe themselves to be a 34B."
Whoever figures out how to use these number correctly can definitely "bust" the competition.

The Future of Lingerie
Designer Katinka Poole has won the Triumph Inspiration Award 2009 for some amazing lingerie designs on the opening night of Milan Fashion Week. The competition was sponsored by Triumph International and judged by Hilary Swank and Italian Vogue chief, and many more.
The point of the contest was to determine the most creative interpretation of "Icons' and Katinka Poole knocked it out of the wall and the Sydney Opera House won 10,000 Euros as a result. Our opinion...this girl is amazing!

Do You Have What It Takes To Be An Angel?

Housewives Star Launching Underwear Line
Dwight Eubanks, friend of NeNe on Housewives of Atlanta is launching a new men's underwear line that's sure to turn a few heads. Eubanks owns the Purple Door Salons in Atlanta and is well known for saying just about anything on the show, regardless of people's feelings.
According to Eubanks, men's underwear is behind the times and his new label, Tool Box will launch this September 14th at M2 Ultra Lounge in Manhattan. The collection will include pajamas and smoking jackets as well as traditional men's underwear.

Finding the Right Sports Bra
Buying sports bras are always a pain, but it’s important that it doesn’t become a quick errand on your to-do list. Wearing the correct style and size sports bra for your figure is as important as finding the right running shoes before a triathlon.
When you walk into the store, make sure you know your size, the length of your torso and the width of your ribcage.
First, decide what kind of activity you are searching for, is there a lot of vertical movement? Are you going running or are you going to a yoga class, for example? If you’re looking for a bra to restrict vertical movement (RVM) then make sure you read labels and find one that specializes in this.
Unfortunately, this task is not a walk in the park if you are a C cup or larger. High impact, vertical stressing activities require an encapsulating bra, giving support to your bust and RVM. An encapsulating bra manages breasts separately.
If you are an A or B cup, stiff molded cups will do the job. Another option for smaller sizes is a pullover or compression style bra, reducing bounce by totally flattening your breasts.
Why do you need to take time to get this right? Because poorly fitting sports bras are likely to cause backaches, shoulder pain and shoulder marks, and sore skin.
And remember, the average life span for a sports bra is six months to a year. When your sports bras start to wear and it looses function—replace it!

Shrimpton Couture Release Cage Lingerie
This vintage inspired piece is made of vintage elastic, trimmed with pearl bead fringe, laced around the edges and topped with detailed shoulder pads. Mostly all hand stitched, the piece was bottomed off with plastic, white mini buckles. Although the whole in words may sound very feminine, the piece is actually more industrial and less frilly to the eye.

Sneak Peak into Malony Fashion
Lingerie designer, Carol Malony, uploaded this black and white video to her Facebook and Twitter followers, giving them a sneak peak into her Spring 2010 collection.
This “Behind the Scenes” video exposes her designs before any formal introduction to retail or market buyers.
“For a company that doesn’t advertise, it’s hard to get our story out there the way we want it to be told,” Jenna Low, spokesperson for Carol Malony, said. “It’s about transforming yourself into this sexy, fearless, wonderful woman. It’s a little pick-me-up drug.”

National Underwear Day: August 5
Looks like we have a new reason to celebrate this August! Although, some of you may have already heard of the holiday, as it’s actually been around for six years.
National Underwear Day is a holiday created by Fresh Pair, a website devoted to (you guessed it) lingerie.
This year, like years in the past, Fresh Pair models will strip down to their undies and strut around the streets of New York. But they won’t just be walking around. In recent years, the models have asked the public to fill out surveys and answer questions about underwear—last year for instance, they asked people to complete a survey about their favorite lingerie pieces.

Model Refaeli Replaces Bundchen for Rampage
Rampage has picked a new face for their young, contemporary line.
Israeli model, Bar Refaeli, will replace the well-known Brazilian super model, Gisele Bundchen this season. Though Bundchen is a hard face to say goodbye to, Rafaeli clearly is able to hold her own next to Bundchen.
“The Rampage line is comfortable,” a sexy Rafaeli said. “The cuts are very feminine. It fits perfectly to the curves of a woman. I have curves and I feel really good in it!”

Saudi Women Take Over the Selling of Lingerie
Last month we reported on a story about history being made as 26 Saudi Arabian women began their first courses on how to sell lingerie, taking the duty from salesmen. Now, the class is over and the women are ready to put their training in action and the government is behind them 100%.
The 10 day class took place in Jeddah, off the shores of the Red Sea. The class is symbolic of a huge breakthrough for Saudi Arabia. Organized groups of women protested the streets after years of buying their lingerie from men.
Most of the stores in the region are managed solely by men, mostly immigrants from east Asia. The only place to buy from a woman is from a “women’s only” mall; of which there are very few.
“It was a wonderful experience,” one of the women in the class said. “But the thing which sent me into a state of shock was the bra sizes. Before the course we did not know how to measure.”
As of January 1, 2010, the sale of lingerie will be restricted to saleswomen. The memo, written by the government of the al-Sharga emirate, warned that storeowners who do not comply are at risk of high penalties.

Anti- Cellutlite Underwear
This May in the U.K Scala launched the world's first anti-cellulite underpants. The Scala Bio-Fir Anti-Cellulite underpants use a special technology using warming crystals that improve circulation, encourages fat cells to liquidate, and then excretes the liquid fat from the body using the liver.
Amazing right? Well the results from the Daily Mail claim that four of the five women who tried the underwear lost inches and reduced cellulite if they ate healthily. Getting rid of cellulite is a big business; although not one cure has been found to reduce or even get rid of cellulite permanently, women around the world spend millions of dollars for some sort of solution.
When these anti-cellulite pants hit the market, they sold out in stores in one day and then sold out online... then ebay caught on and started selling them online for 60 pounds, even though the retail price is 25 pounds.
However, media around the world, including New York Fashion, have a few doubts about the "anti-cellulite" claims. According the them:
"Someone should hack that list [email waiting list] and send them a memo informing them that wearing giant girdle panty-shorts won't make them thinner or less dimply, and that the only crystals with any sort of potential to magically melt away fat of any kind are probably made with methamphetamine."

Lingerie as outerwear was once just a crazy 1980’s trend. Lately, though, various pieces of underwear are being worn as outerwear at an exponential rate.
No doubt, the 80’s trend has uncovered itself because of wide attention to tights and stockings as feature pieces of design this past year. With the help of various magazines and celebrities (like Sienna Miller below), outerwear is a feature littering 2009 and 2010 fashion trends.
Exposed stay-ups and suspenders are the most popular, even though they are the most risqué and the most difficult to show off.

Ramm ND, a Russian designer mixed with brilliance, designs beer cans into a pleasing work of art. Many of his designs give the illusion of a naked woman’s body, but his newest design is the best one yet. His newest design, and possibly the most popular, is the Pantyhose Can design.
To the naked eye, the can alone can be deceiving. The image on each can is people walking toward city buildings. Though, when you place one of these Pantyhose Cans next to another of the same design, a garter belt, a pair of panties, and legs wearing patterned fishnet stockings are visible.
The only problem? You always need to have two cans!

Bra Ball Creator Dies
The young at heart creator of the "Big Giant Bra Ball" has died. I'm sure you've seen a bra ball at some point in your life. Maybe at a museum or at a VDay conference, the balls are just like rubber band bras but bigger and made of bras and underwear.
Ironically, Mr. Nicolino was getting ready to start a new business where he would be creating customized caskets for cremated remains when he passed away on July 7th of cancer, he was 69.
A look back at his life would make anyone smile, it's a reminder that everyone has a special way of living everyday and that's what makes each of us different. Here's a brief overview of his interesting and somewhat unusual life:
- He was born on Dec 21, 1939 in Colorado
- After high school he went to the Navy's submarine division
- He graduated from Berkely with a degree in architecture and worked on boat construction and remodeling
- In the 1990s he through he could strung bras across the Grand Canyon, 14,000 bras later the government crushed his dreams due to safety issues
- In 1994 he created a mile of sand breast along Stinson Beach, all size 34Cs
- He met Emily Duffy and they decided to create a bra ball. The relationship ended badly with both of them claiming to own the idea. The pair parted with lawsuits following closely after

Marilyn Monroe’s Bra For Sale

This Bikini That Comes With a Boob Job
It's been seen in all the magazines this month, Marie Claire and more as well as online news sources. The sale of "boob-job bikinis” are reaching new heights, especially in Britain where women are looking to change their shape to a shapelier figure.
The new gel swimwear for women has been nicknamed the "boob-job bikini" because they include a gel pad that allows the breast to be lifted. According to Debenhams, who sell the lines in their stores, the pushup phenomenon is coveted by women across the world. Amanda Wain, Senior Swimwear Buyer, states:
"We heard that some customers have jokingly called it the "boob-job bikini" and it did occur to us that as many people are faced with a squeeze on their income maybe they are turning to this kind of beach-wear as an alternative to costly breast enlargement surgery."

Bra and Undies Takeover A Garden Near You
The Royal Horticultural Society has really taken gardening to an intimate level…intimate apparel that is. RHS has built a bra patch in Hampton Court Palace Flower Show to encourage others to realize that gardening has a couple of secrets up its sleeves.
The display showed about 200 undergarments filled with strawberries, herbs and flowers. According to RHS spokes woman Gerogie Webb, "Older members were generally a bit bemused at first, but I think people then realised that this was really a bit of fun. There was a lot of giggling around the garden though, from both old and young, so we think it went down well."
The idea began with a conversation, as most great ideas. ""We were talking about how strawberries can be grown in hanging baskets, and we wondered what else could be used. Someone pointed out that a bra was the right shape", says Webb.

Graduate Starts Lingerie Line Despite Economy

Galliano Brings Lingerie to Paris Couture
John Galliano created quite a buzz when dramatically released lingerie with his haute couture collection for Christian Dior entitled 'Cabine Fever' with scenes from the 50's in the background.
He effectively bought the visible panty and bra line to a fashionable status using see through fabric revealing nude colored lingerie for a raw interpretation of the haute couture show.
If you looked at the show with an artistic eye, you would have appreciated the boldness. However, from a fashion industry point of view, the look probably won't catch on. It was tried before in the 1960's and the early 1980's with no success by Yves St Laurent and Vivienne Westwood.

The Lingerie Football League Is Back
We're not exactly sure how we feel about this one, but the Lingerie Football League (LFL) is starting back up with training camps throughout July in the major arenas and stadiums around the Nation.
LFL training camp pulls the world's most athletic and beautiful women models in one place as they as they compete and train for a spot on the 2009 and 2010 LFL team rosters. Those that make it on the roster will be a part of a 20 week reality sports process which includes 7 on 7 tackle football on Friday nights around the world.

A Sports Bra Is Reunited With It's Owner
Brandi Chastain and her famous sports bra are no stranger to the press. She wore it when she won the 1999 World Cup. The game was close and she helped the United States win using a penalty kick. No one can forget that game nor her black sports bra she had on when she celebrated by shedding her shirt in happiness.
Unfortunately, every story has its ups and downs. That sports bra became famous and Brandi Chastain lent it to the Sports Museum of America so that sports lovers around the world could view it on display. But no one expected the New York museum to file bankruptcy this year and no one expected the feds to seize hundreds of items including loaned memorabilia.
But Chastain, being the trooper she is, fought the courts and got her bra back, right in time for the 10th year anniversary of the 1999 World Cup. The famous sports bra will be on display during the FC Gold Pride and St. Louis Athletica Game.
Most believe that the moment when Brandi got on her knees and shed her shirt to reveal that white sports bra, she created the most important moment in women's team sports history.

A Purple Bra Raises Breast Cancer Awareness
The Breast Cancer Foundation of Western Australia (BCFWA) decided to step outside the norm and abandon the traditional pink color usually associated with the cause to adopt a color they believe supports the cause and allows their organization to stand out…. Purple.
As a result, the innovative foundation founded Purple Bra Day and one fashionable boutique owner, Annamarie of Glam 'N' Gliztz, decided the "purple" cause was worth fighting for. Annamarie walked her local shopping center in her purple bra to receive donations, but that wasn't enough. She also held a Champagne Breakfast and took donations from customers in her shop.
We commend Annamarie who believes every little bit counts and raised over $1,000 by reaching out in her local community. According to her:
"A lot of fundraising in Australia is unfairly distributed amongst the states and when she heard with BCFWA that what’s raised in WA stays in WA she wanted to be a part of something truly worthwhile. We all take life for granted and think it’ll never happen to me. Sadly it just might."

Bra and Panty Thieves Strike Victoria Secret
The title alone makes you shake your head. Kind of makes you wonder if there is a black market somewhere for bras and panties that we don’t know about?
Victoria Secret has been falling victim to some bra and panty thieves who taken them for a wild ride and a significant loss in bra and panties over the past 9 months in Northeast Ohio. A number of stores were hit including three stores at the Parmatown Mall and one over the weekend at Summit Mall which resulted in 8,500 dollars in merchandise.
And these panty bandits are stealing one or two underwear here or there. The latest incident at Summit Mall was a tag team effort. The couple walked around the store and knocked over a sales rack before leaving. Employees were left stupefied as they realized 90 bras and... you won't believe this... 800 panties had been stolen from the store!
We are still confused as to how someone got away with 800 panties. The police believe the couple is reselling the merchandise online.

Visible Panty Line Used For Protest
The Green Squeeze protest group made a very visible statement to protest the building of a road that would link Stanton Ironworks site in Ilkeston to the A52.
However, the road is planned over the last piece of open land in the area and protesters built a line of boxers in order to let developers know what they thought of the idea. The leader of the Green Squeeze, Paul Harvy, reminded reporters that the land was considered a local national park and that they would continue to protest until the local authorities come to their senses.
The visible panty line shows where the road will be constructed and how the road will be affected. Definitely an amazing demonstration!

HCM City Bans Mannequins Wearing Lingerie
In Vietnam, the government of HCM City have decided that all stores displaying lingerie wearing mannequins would be banned. The ban started on June 15 and if caught, authorities would be issuing warnings and citations.
However, news of the ban seems to have traveled slowly because many stores still have the mannequins in the windows, the shop owners deny hearing the government issued demands, and the customers seem oblivious to the underwear. In it's wake, the issue has spun a heated debate that has been a major argument, not only in Vietnam, but across the world.
The question? Why is it okay to display swimsuits and scantily made outfits on mannequins and advertisined, but it isn't okay to advertise lingerie. Many retailers who make modest underwear have complained about the stipulations that magazines, websites and other venues have placed on displaying their product. Many believe they are given the short end of the stick because they can't accurately sale their product without showing the lingerie on a body.
According to a staff at Mitsuba company in HCM City: "....the ban doesn’t mention bikinis. This product is the same with underwear. Why isn’t it banned?”
Definitely a question that needs to be addressed worldwide.
